So this ‘wad of bills’ is what stops you from taking action to go on mission for the Lord? These rolled up pieces of paper are greater in power and might than the Lord? Most reasons people give for not going on a mission are financial. They either don’t have it or don’t want to spend it. Rolled up paper.
If Jesus were to appear before you right now would you say “Lord, I would go but I don’t have enough money.” What you are saying is that money is controlling your life. Can you substantiate this perspective from Holy Scripture?
People find money for whatever they need. When the Lord had me preaching in Woodruff Park in Atlanta for four years one lesson was that even homeless people love money. The love of money is the root of all evil. Often this affection is clothed, consciously and unconsciously, in language about everyday needs.
The truth is the expression, “I don’t have enough money” is language that you love money. For if you wanted to take action for the Lord you would do whatever it takes to go. That’s the difference between those Saints who want to preach the Gospel for the glory of our great God and Savior and those who don’t. They tackle and overcome this perspective on money. Money no longer controls their actions. The will of the Lord is what takes precedence.
The best response if you don’t want to take action is, “I don’t want to do this” that way you have expressed the truth which is liberating. But if you do want to take action and want to learn how to overcome the love of money then say something to that effect like, “I want to go can you teach me how to get the money to go?”. See the difference?
